Turning Color and Scent into Dollars and Scents

Course Objectives:

  • Review what “color” is.
  • Review elements that create “color”.
  • Discuss common “color definitions”.
  • Discuss the Color Wheel and how it plays into decorating and color interaction.
  • Learn what research has identified related to color and human reaction to color.
  • Learn what research has identified related to scents and human reaction to scents.
  • Learn how smell can affect behavior.
  • Identify activities which involve color and/or scent and enhance resident quality of life.
  • Identify activities which can decrease resident medication side effects , decrease drug use, decrease fall risks, save the facility money, or generate revenue by increased census or resident awareness. 
  • How to market facility "color" and "scents".

Instructor: Lynn M. Blair, RN, NHA, Ph.D, has a wealth of experience as a Registered Nurse, Educator, and Health Care Administrator. She also brings to NCP her knowledge as a Business Consultant in the area of units providing: Alzheimer, Rehabilitation, Transitional Care , Hospice, HIV/AIDS, Operations Integration, Total Quality Management Programs, Acquisition Due Diligence, Clinical and Business Policy, and Procedure Implementation, among others.
